I will communicate respectfully. I will listen attentively, offer my ideas clearly, and recognize that through disagreement and even conflict there are opportunities for growth. Members, Friends and speakers are asked to use "I" statements when expressing an opinion.
I recognize the need for privileged information between members and the board. Conflict resolution will follow this sequential progression; one on one, committee, board or full fellowship. Members can request the use of Roberts Rules of Order to facilitate meetings. Decisions will be made by consensus as much as possible.
I will vigorously and respectfully represent our values and beliefs with others and in the wider community.
Our values and beliefs are well represented by the Ames Covenant developed by Rev. Charles Gordon Ames in the 1880's, and slightly modified by us here.
Love is the doctrine of this church
The quest of truth is our sacrament
and service is our prayer.
To dwell together in peace,
to seek knowledge in freedom,
to serve humanity in fellowship,
to the end that all souls shall grow
into harmony and with the Divine-
thus do we covenant with each other.
